The Defence Secretary's friend and self-styled adviser, Adam Werritty, met General John R. Allen in July last year when he was deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, which runs military operations in the Middle East. Allen is now in command of ISAF in Afghanistan. Incredibly, Werritty has no official status with the MOD, no security clearance and not even an informal government brief. His credentials for being there at all (not to mention the dozens of other sensitive meetings he has been at) consist of being Fox's best friend. He was there, as we all know, because he is a lobbyist for the Defence Industry and individual arms dealers.
