The incident took place in Kekhi Kotal area of Kandahar province after Taliban insurgents attacked a military outpost, a spokesman for the provincial governor Samim Ikhpelwak said.
The Taliban insurgents also suffered casualties in the clash, but there was no exact information about the numbers, he said.
