The provincial council chairman Abdul Karim Khadimzai said that 22 policemen were killed and 11 others wounded in the attack.
“Nine police officers have been missing in the wake of the fierce clash,” Pajhwok quoted him as saying. He also said that a brother of the Afghan Local Police commander for Uruzgan had also gone missing.
Moreover, according to the news agency, local security official revealed the ALP commander himself had been killed in the overnight gun battle that began at 7pm and ended at 10pm.
This comes as recently the Afghan security forces have given tit-for-tat response to the Taliban’s attack in Trinkot, the capital city of southern Uruzgan province.
