Afghan Taliban announces start of spring offensive

dpa news - Afghan Taliban announces start of spring offensive
The offensive, named "Operation Omari" after the group's late long-term leader Mullah Omar, came as the Afghan government called on the Taliban to join peace talks.
The Afghan government, along with Pakistan, China and the United States, have tried to bring the insurgents to the negotiating table, but the Taliban have so far rejected the invitation.
