Swap deal angers Afghanistan | Radio New Zealand News
After calling in Afghan officials responsible for trying to make peace with the Taliban on Afghan terms, Mr Karzai's government has expressed strong opposition to the US deal.
A statement claimed that handing the Taliban fighters over to the third power, Qatar, was against international law, the BBC reports.
Shops in Sergeant Bergdahl's home town of Hailey, Idaho, announced his release.
Earlier in a rare public statement, Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar called the release a great victory.
