According to the US department of defense, Gen. John Campbell has been nominated as the next commander of the US and coalition security forces in Afghanistan.
The announcement was made by US defense secretary Chuck Hagel on Tuesday.
Gen. Campbell is currently serving as vice chief of staff in the army and will replace Gen. Joseph Dunford, who has been nominated to become the next commandant of the Marine Corps.
