I doubt that the U.S. would eliminate Assamge through capital punishment, because this outcome brings more risk than reward to those trying to get rid of him. Solitary confinement is preferable over making a martyr. However Assange is obviously under an organized attack from Western states, so he must expect and plan for the worst.
