They might shoot something or nothing or anybody within a half mile radius. This is spray and pray Iraq massacre-style. Too bad if you turn out to be collateral damage in one of the houses, sorry compounds. There is an understatement at one stage about conserving ammo.
This is what Afghanistan will look like in 2014. Remember how 2010 was supposed to be "the year?" Then 2011. Now 2012 is "make or break." Then 2013...
ReplyDeleteTax dollars at work.
ReplyDeleteOne guy actually yells out "conserve your ammo". LOL
This is a prime example that they are treating this as a real time video game.
James
I am not so sure.
They might want to secure a few bases, air fields, contracts, ministries, politicians, Taliban leaders, poppy war lords, supply routes, etc, and then leave. LOL
I have a funny feeling that they will be moving on to newer, bigger, and better endless wars without borders.
Remember, this is the "long war".
As such it is a roving war also.
I agree that the U.S. will keep the long war moving. However I expect a slow withdrawal up to 2014 and a large residual force afterward. That means the fight has to be kept at a fairly constant pace.
ReplyDeleteNot to speculate too far in the distance, but a GOP win in 2012 would also prolong the war.
A prolonged war needs to be financed.
ReplyDeleteNot so sure that is doable for much longer.
There might be a financial collapse in the next three years.
No matter who the president is.
RZ,
ReplyDeleteThe Playstation mentality of these boneheads is what depressed me the most. Hearts and minds eh? What a travesty. I don't buy the spin that episodes like this involve just a few bad apples either.
James,
If we get President Perry or GOP President ......(insert another rightist moonbat name) we will really see the endless war stoked up and oil poured on the flames of Arab and Muslim resentments which are already widespread. The vicious circle is spiralling faster and faster....I think Obama will be re-elected and nurture the (probably futile) hope that in a second term he would take time for a considered self-assessment and retrenchment in US FP for once.
