Letter To New York Times

Posting this letter (anonymised by me) since I agree with its succinct sentiments.

To the Editor:
The police in the United States do not pursue suspects in helicopters and fire missiles at them, yet this is standard practice for the military in the war in Afghanistan. The latest atrocity of many is the slaughter of nine boys who were collecting firewood for the homes of their impoverished families.
It is time to end the practice of using helicopters to attack people. It is a cowardly and repulsive way to attack anyone, insurgent or not, let alone innocent civilians, including children.

  1. The U.S. military holds some of its highest respect for assault helicopters, either in conventional or asymmetric warfare. Unfortunately it won't be long before the next civilian casualties.
