Did you hear the joke about the predator drone? Obama might have picked a better week for his joke than one on which this story appeared. More Russian roulette with innocent villagers in Afghanistan and Pakistan. How crass can you get about this kind of thing?

ReplyDeleteBefore Obama's election, Mavis Staples of the Staples Singers, a family gospel group connected to the civil rights movement in the U.S. during the 60's and friend of Martin Luther King, was talking to Phillip Adams, who hosts Late Night Live on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company).
She said Obama went to the same church as she did in Chicago, the one where Rev. Jeremiah Wright was the head honcho. Adams asked her if Obama ever joined in the singing at the church.
She started to laugh (a wonderful laugh) and said Obama "doesn't look as if he can sing to me."

I thought she could probably spot a fake with all her experience of politics. She was right.
Mavis is right. Saw her and 'Pop' Staples live a few years ago in London. Not sure about Obama. I know he's smart but sometimes I wonder about well-advised.
