Commander Worried About Afghanistan

US Commander Worried About Afghanistan - Business Insider

"I don't know if I'm pessimistic or optimistic," Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, the departing US commander in Afghanistan, told The New York Times. "The fact that we are in less places, the fact that there are less of us as a coalition, is obviously concerning.”
The drawdown of military operations is not connected to political or security objectives like the defeat of the Taliban or the stabilization of the Afghan government. Instead, due to a faltering of political and public ill, the US decided to cease operations and leave behind a coalition force of 13,000 troops.
